Overview

Grainer takes a flatbed scan of a rice sample and turns it into calibrated, per-grain measurements — length, width, aspect ratio, chalkiness, discoloration and damage — then rolls those up into a quality grade, a pass/fail assessment against your own specification, and exportable reports. It runs on Windows, works fully offline, and uses the scanner you already own.

Calibration

A guided wizard sets a true pixel-to-millimetre scale for your scanner, so every measurement maps to a physical reference.

Per-grain measurement

One scan is segmented into individual grains, each measured for length, width and aspect ratio (ISO 11746), plus chalkiness, discoloration and damage (IS 4333 Part 1).

Quality grading

Measurements roll up into whole-grain and broken bands (ISO 7301), a quality grade, and a pass/fail result against a configurable specification.

Lot & batch consolidation

Pool several scans into one lot report, computed by summing counts and area-weighting fractions — never by averaging each scan's percentages.

Certificates of Quality Analysis

A one-page, sequentially numbered PDF certificate for any graded scan or lot, ready to hand to a buyer or auditor.

Ten interface languages

English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Bengali, Odia, Marathi and Gujarati, so the operator can work in their own language.

Sample result

A report your buyer can file — not a screenshot.

Key metrics up front, broken grains classed by share of R, and the annotated scan with every grain numbered and measured.

How it works

From bare scanner to signed-off sample in four steps.

No lab hardware, no special lighting, no spreadsheet stitching between scans.

  1. 01

    Calibrate — once

A guided wizard sets a true pixel-to-millimetre scale for your scanner.

  2. 02

    Scan the sample

Spread the grains on the flatbed and press scan. Any flatbed scanner works.

  3. 03

    Measure & grade

Each grain is segmented, measured and classified, then graded against your spec.

  4. 04

    Export the report

A PDF with key metrics, charts, the annotated scan and every grain's measurements, plus a CSV.

ISO 7301 · Whole and broken grain bands
IS 4333 Pt 1 · Chalkiness, discoloration, damage
Who it's for

Built for the people who grade rice every day.

Rice millers

Check every outgoing batch against specification before it leaves the mill — no sending samples out to a lab.

Exporters & traders

Hand buyers a full analysis report and numbered certificate instead of numbers they have to take on trust.

Quality labs

Replace grain-by-grain hand counting with repeatable per-grain measurement.

Independent analysts

Issue reports under your own name from one workstation — no lab required.

Questions

Frequently asked.

What hardware do I need?

Any flatbed scanner. The calibration wizard sets a pixel-to-millimetre scale for whichever scanner you already own — there is no proprietary hardware to buy.

How is the quality grade calculated?

Per-grain length, width and aspect ratio follow ISO 11746, and damage classification follows IS 4333 (Part 1). These roll up into whole and broken bands aligned with ISO 7301, then into a grade and a pass/fail against a configurable specification.

Does Grainer work offline?

Calibration, scanning, measurement, grading and certificate generation all run locally. An internet connection is only needed for licence activation and certificate verification links.

What happens when the trial ends?

Grainer stops issuing new certificates until you activate a licence key. Everything you have already scanned, graded and certified stays on your machine.

Can someone verify a certificate without installing Grainer?

Each certificate carries a QR code linking to a public verification page. Verifying directly from the PDF with no connection is planned for a future release.

Is a licence per person or per computer?

Per computer (workstation). Anyone at the mill can use a licensed workstation.
